Bayview – a lovely Isle of Wight holiday home overlooking Ventnor harbour

View from Bayview balcony
Bayview is a five star standard apartment in one of the best locations in Ventnor overlooking the beach and harbour.  This modern and comfortable property has been recently refurbished.  It has one bedroom, a generous double with king-size bed, and a king-size sleeper sofa in the living room sleeping in all up to four people. The light and airy living, dining and kitchen area is at the front of the building overlooking the sea, while the double bedroom has a view of the highest point of the island, St Boniface Down, immediately behind the town.
Step out from the living room and you are on Bayview’s very own private balcony furnished with two teak armchairs – the ideal spot to watch the comings and goings in the harbour, for whiling away the day, or a pre-dinner gin and tonic.

The apartment is only a couple of minutes level walk from the shops in the town centre, and no further to the beach. Yet it is on a private road – a quiet haven from the pressures of modern life. Walk down to the beach alongside Ventnor’s renowned Cascade Gardens and you are rewarded by freshly caught fish, crab and lobster available daily from the harbour fishery. Unlike a lot of accommodation in the town there’s a dedicated parking space directly outside the apartment.

Within ten minutes walk there are numerous pubs, cafés, bars and restaurants. These include the Royal Hotel which has two AA Rosettes for its food, The stylish Smoking Lobster recently voted best restaurant on the Island, and the Spyglass Inn known for its fine ales, and waterfront location.

Spectacular coastal walks can also be enjoyed from your front door, to Bonchurch, the Undercliff and Shanklin to the east and to the lovely Steephill Cove and the renowned Botanic Garden to the west. Outdoor pursuits include walking, cycling, riding, golf and water sports.

Bayview is the top floor of a recently converted Victorian period villa in one of the best know streets in the town, Alexandra Gardens.  It stands on the site of the original Ventnor mill and pond, dating back at least as far as 1300.

Ventnor is a charming Victorian coastal spa town built on the sheltered undercliff on the Isle of Wight’s south coast and dominated by the island’s highest point, St Boniface Down. Known to the Victorians as “England’s Madeira”, the town is noted for its sunny summers and mild winters.

Bayview is available as a holiday cottage  – for whole weeks in season and for short or weekend breaks and whole weeks outside the main season. Please e-mail us if you would like further information or to make a reservation.
