This festival isn’t just about walking; it’s about community, nature, and adventure. The Isle of Wight is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, making it the perfect backdrop for such an event. Participants can enjoy guided walks led by experienced and knowledgeable volunteer leaders, each walk showcasing different aspects of the island’s beauty, from breathtaking coastal cliffs to serene woodlands and charming villages.
The festival caters to all abilities and interests. There are gentle strolls for families and beginners, more challenging hikes for seasoned walkers, and themed walks that delve into the island’s rich history, wildlife, and geology. You can also join in on night walks, bird-watching expeditions, and even fossil-hunting trips.
Inclusivity is a core value of the festival. Most walks are free, encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to participate. For those who wish to contribute, donations are welcome and go towards maintaining the island’s beautiful landscapes and supporting local community initiatives.
Social events are also a highlight of the festival. You can meet fellow walkers, share stories, and enjoy local hospitality at the various pubs and cafés along the routes. This creates a warm and friendly atmosphere that brings people back year after year.
If you are visiting the Island for the Festival we still have self-catering accommodation available in Bermuda House, Beach View Apartment, Gills Cliff House and High Street Suites 3.
