There are many beautiful views from viewpoints across the Isle of Wight. Here are a few of our favourites:
The Needles
Located at the far western point of the Island, the Needles are one of the Isle of Wight’s most iconic landmarks. These striking chalk stacks rise majestically from the sea, accompanied by the historic lighthouse. Visitors can enjoy views from the clifftop at Alum Bay, or better by walking along the road to the Needles Battery and going down a few steps to the spot where you get the classic view.
Culver Down
From the Culver Cliff car park, head towards Culver Battery and Whitecliff Ledge where you’ll have fabulous views across Whitecliff Bay and Bembridge. Continue along to the hill fort along the coastal path and then come back to the car park across Bembridge Down passing the Yarborough Monument.
Brading Down
Brading Down, on the Newport to Brading road, is a favourite among locals for its sweeping views of Sandown Bay from the north. Its elevated vantage point is perfect for capturing vibrant sunsets. The down is also great for walkers, with plenty of trails to explore while admiring the scenery. On summer days ice creams can be bought too.
Ventnor Downs

Blackgang Viewpoint
Blackgang Viewpoint, on the coast road between Niton and Chale, provides sweeping views of the southern coastline and rolling hills. It’s a fantastic spot to watch the sea as it stretches endlessly into the distance, offering a sense of peaceful solitude. Look inland and you will see “the pepperpot”, the shell of a medieval lighthouse built in 1314, on the hill above the viewpoint.
