Ventnor is unique on the Isle of Wight. Because of its steep Victorian terraces and compact town centre, it’s one of the few places where you can truly “park and forget.” At Ventnor Self Catering, all our properties—from the grand Bermuda House to the chic High Street Suites 3—come with dedicated private parking. Here is how to spend 48 hours in the Isle of Wight UNESCO Biosphere without ever turning the ignition.
Day 1: Coastal Charm and Sourdough
- Morning: Start with breakfast – we suggest the “best breakfast in the UK” at Cantina (just steps from High Street Suites). Walk it off with a stroll down by the Cascade to Ventnor Beach, maybe with a coffee at The Met Bar.
- Afternoon: Head West along the sea wall. It’s a flat, beautiful 20-minute walk to Steephill Cove. No cars, just crab pasties and turquoise water.
- Evening: Walk back for dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in town – we would particularly recommend Stripped Brasserie, currently ranked number 1 on the island by TripAdvisor. Since you’re on foot, you can enjoy that extra glass of wine without a second thought.
Day 2: Heights, History & Heritage

- Morning: Tackle the “zig-zags” up to Ventnor Downs. It’s a climb, but the reward is a 360-degree view of the English Channel and as you go further along the ridge a panorama of Sandown Bay and across the Island.
- Afternoon: Descend into the Ventnor Botanic Garden. Explore the sub-tropical plants that thrive in our unique microclimate.
- Late Afternoon: Browse the independent shops on the High Street. Grab a vintage vinyl record at Ventnor Exchange or an artisan gift from one of Ventnor’s quirky boutiques.
The “Direct” Advantage
