Many of the best restaurants on the Island are in Ventnor. Here are a few of our favourites:
Stripped Brasserie is the new kid on the block, a delightful Mediterranean restaurant known for its warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of delicious dishes, including slow-roasted lamb and perfectly seasoned lamb on the bone. Catering to various dietary preferences, it also features vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The drink selection is impressive, with a range of wines, beers, and speciality cocktails. Guests appreciate the friendly and attentive service, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed dining experience. Tom Kerridge chose to eat there when he was on the Island filming an M&S commercial.
Smoking Lobster is an award-winning 2-Rosette restaurant located in Ventnor Bay. It serves Asian-Fusion cuisine with breathtaking sea views. The restaurant is famous for using fresh and local produce, including lobsters delivered daily by a local fisherman. The menu features exotic dishes with an Asian twist, and the cocktail menu is highly praised. Guests love the friendly and helpful staff, and the food is considered outstanding. The Guardian’s Food Critic Grace Dent said that the lobster was the best she’d ever had.
True Food Kitchen is a standout restaurant offering an exquisite Asian fusion dining experience. Under the guidance of award-winning chef Adam Fendyke, the menu features vibrant flavours from Korean, Japanese, and South East Asian cuisines. Locally sourced ingredients are at the heart of every dish, including the popular seven-course chef’s tasting menu. The cosy ambiance, enhanced by mango wood furnishings and artwork by David Firmstone, creates a welcoming environment.
The Royal Hotel Restaurant, known as Geranium, has earned 2 AA Rosettes for over 25 years. It features a seasonal menu using the freshest local ingredients, including a delightful Sunday lunch menu featuring treats like Gallybagger Cheese Soufflé and Roast Sirloin Beef which almost melts in the mouth. The elegant conservatory and brasserie provide a beautiful setting for afternoon tea and dinner, while the outdoor dining area is perfect for summer meals. On Channel 4’s Best of Britain By The Sea” head chef Matt Egan showed Ainsley Harriet how the speciality Gallybagger Soufflé is made.
There are more ideas on our website, and we would recommend staying a few nights in one of our self-catering properties to sample them all.
